Elastic resistence with Flextensor

Elastic resistence with Flextensor

Flextensor is Easytech’s elastic resistance device, developed for the rehabilitation and training of the lower limb through auxotonic work in open kinetic chain.

What do we mean by elastodynamic work?

Elastodynamic work, or elastic resistance, is a relatively easy rehabilitation and training method which can be of great efficacy and help when used correctly.

Elastic resistance has specific characteristics that set it apart from other types of resistance, such as:

  • absence of inertia
  • progressive load
  • absence of weight stack

What are the benefits of working with Flextensor?

Easy to use, Flextensor offers numerous benefits in comparison with traditional gym machines, such as:

  • Greater fluidity of movement, thanks to the progressive resistance provided by its elastics which gradually improves with the increase of pressure.
  • Easy modulation of the workload, which can be changed by simply modifying the pressure and/or the number of elastics.
  • Possibility to perform plyometric work at high angular speeds.

Flextensor allows you to stimulate muscles through strengthening exercises, involving both the quadriceps femoral muscle and knee flexors.

How to employ Flextensor in rehabilitation

With Flextensor you can easily switch from light loads with low joint impact, essential during the first rehabilitation stages, to heavy loads and high angular speeds which are instead vital during the final stages of a complete recovery.

Let’s take a look at two ways in which Flextensor can be used in the first rehabilitation stages for two of the most common orthopedic pathologies: reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscectomy.

  • Reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament: already 3-4 weeks after surgery it is possible to perform isometric work with the quadriceps femoral muscle at various angles of the knee, remembering however, to avoid the first 30°. This is because, when administered in isometric mode, Flextensor can properly stimulate both the flexors and extensors of the knee without overloading the tissues or the joints themselves.
  • Meniscectomy: in this case the exercise can be performed in its totality and it is possible to start working relatively early in concentric mode with low elastic resistance, resulting in less risk of further hurting the damaged tissue.

How to use Flextensor to prevent and train

Flextensor allows you to stimulate muscles through strengthening exercises involving both the femoral quadricep muscle and the knee flexors. Training with Flextensor is a valid compromise between work intensity and overload risk, helping the athlete reach his/her ideal shape while also remaining an efficient instrument for non-athlete and amateurs.

Flextensor can also be combined with other devices such as isokinetics or devices with weight stacks, both characterized by the ease in quantifying the magnitude of the load expressed.

Choosing the right machine

We know very well that choosing the right machine entails thoughts about the space, your habits, and the needs of your clients. Easytech is an Italian company among the bests for the production of electromedical and medical devices for physiotherapy and rehabilitation: our advisers are at your disposal to understand together how to better insert a Flextensor inside your therapeutic offer. Occasionally we also deal with second-hand devices, naturally reconditioned and completely functional.
