Prima Line
What is Prima
Prima line devices are designed to test, rehabilitate and train the knee, ankle, and shoulder in closed kinetic chain. A movement at constant angular speed is imposed to the patient to express maximum force throughout the entirety of the movement. Prima Iso and Prima Plus are both isokinetic dynamometers, i.e., devices capable of measuring the expressed force at all times. The high precision of the measurements and an easy graphic rendition of the data allow for the constant evaluation of the work progress.
These isokinetic systems are fundamental for the test, rehabilitation and training of the flexor-extensor function of the large joints.
Prima Iso is a class I medical device in compliance with EU directives.
Prima Plus is a class IIb medical device in compliance with EU directives.

How does it work
Isokinetics is a methodology often used in rehabilitation to evaluate and increase the force and resistance of muscular groups. The term isokinetic contraction defines a type of contraction in which the muscle either shortens (concentric) or lengthens (eccentric) at constant angular speed throughout the entirety of the movement. In fact, Prima Line levers have been specifically designed with the execution of isokinetic exercises of the large joints in mind.
In particular, Prima Iso is a dynamometer equipped with a hydraulic motor which works passively during the execution of exercises in concentric and isometric mode.
Prima Plus is instead a dynamometer equipped with an oleodynamic motor that can work in passive and active mode as well as concentric, isometric, eccentric, mixed and passive.
Isokinetic dynamometers are fundamental for the monitoring and quantification of muscular strength in movement.
